Trish and I drove north. We took a one night’s stay at Niagara Falls which was magnificent.

Then on to Stratford, Ontario, where there is a world famous theatre festival. We were hosted by the wonderful Seana McKenna and her husband Miles Potter, who together have created many distinguished performances in many various places. Seana has a unique portfolio at Stratford, having played just about everything Shakespeare has to offer for women (and quite a few men too).

Trish and Seana go back a long way. Here they are as mother and daughter in Romeo and Juliet. A vintage production.

And here is Seana playing Titania with the late great Brian Bedford as Bottom.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a play I had intended never to see again. I have played in no particular order: Peter Quince, Robin Starveling, Egeus, Theseus and two of Titania’s four fairies. But never Bottom. (Note: I am available should anyone wish to take me to lunch and make an offer.)

But, Trish having played Titania at Stratford in her earlier youth…

And there being a truly splendid production playing now – I took the plunge and was delighted to see our friend Sara Topham giving us her own enchanting Titania.

So when Seana hosted a get together, a sweet reunion of theatre veterans, for a brief interlude there was a trio of Titanias present, alums of the very same stage gathered together.

Not something you come across everyday.
